COVID-19

Introduction

Trans Guyana Airways Limited prides itself in taking great care to protect the health and safety of its customers and staff. Our procedures are updated regularly in keeping with the most current guidelines from Government and International Agencies with particular emphasis on controlling the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The safety and well-being of our customers and staff is our number one priority.

These procedures represent TGA’s system to keep you as safe as possible when you fly with us.

Passenger Procedures

  1. Each passenger’s body temperature will be checked to ensure that it is below 37.5C. Passengers with elevated body temperatures will not be permitted to travel with TGA.
  2. All passengers must wear an appropriate face mask that covers their nose and mouth at the airport and on board the aircraft, except for short periods for identification or when eating or drinking. Should a passenger not have a face mask, one shall be made available prior to boarding the flight. Children below the age of two (2) who are travelling with parent(s) or guardian(s) may be exempted from wearing a face mask on board the aircraft.  
  3. Passengers will not be accepted for travel unless they have complied with all travel restrictions or entry requirements at their destination or transit points.
  4. Only passengers who present evidence that they have tested negative for COVID-19 by a PCR test taken within the previous 7 days, will be accepted for flight.
  5. Passengers will be asked to observe social distancing of six (6) feet while at the airport and queuing in the check-in area.
  6. Should TGA staff detect that a person is displaying signs or symptoms of COVID-19 during the check-in or boarding process, he (or she) will inform Port Heath immediately.
  7. Hand luggage, checked baggage and cargo are sanitized prior loading by applying a solution consisting of no less than a 70% alcohol-based content; or a recommended solution.

TGA Procedures

  1. Face masks and/or face shield are worn at all times when interacting with customers.
  2. Staff workspaces, booths, check-in counters and tables used in their daily operation to process passengers and their baggage are subjected to frequent cleaning or disinfection.
  3. Staff maintain a physical distance of 6 feet, where applicable.
  4. TGA ensures that handling companies’, and security service providers’ personnel follow our procedures.
  5. TGA ensures that all employees and contracted personnel complete initial and recurrent training to ensure that they are familiar with our procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  6. When required, TGA will provide the ‘Passenger Health Information Form’ also known as “Emergency Disease Screening Tool” to passengers while on board the aircraft and ensure that the passengers complete the form before their arrival to the airport.

Aircraft Cleaning

We provide specific training to our staff who are involved in aircraft cleaning, grooming, and sanitization to ensure that we maintain the stringent health safety measures required to keep our customers and staff as safe as possible.

  1. TGA’s aircraft cabin, including seats, trays, trolleys, lavatories, and baggage holds are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before and after each flight.
  2. Baggage and cargo are sanitized or disinfected before loading and after unloading.

Keeping Our Staff Informed

TGA provides awareness training and regular updates to all its staff and partners on the latest information concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.
